Should Scotland be an independent country?

We’ve very much enjoyed working with the BBC again recently, this time with the BBC News Visual Journalism team, to design and build a Scottish referendum poll tracker. On 18 September 2014, millions of Scots will vote on whether they want Scotland to become independent or remain part of the United Kingdom.

To show what the opinion polls suggest the outcome of the referendum will be, our poll tracker displays the ‘Yes/No/Don’t know’ results from individual polls, but perhaps more importantly, it also displays the trend of these results over time. The poll data shown begins in September 2013 and will continue, set against the context of key political events, right up until just before voting day.

As @BBCNewsGraphics put it, will it be “Aye or Naw?”
